Business Background
Founded in 1984, SEOS Limited is a world leader in the manufacture of display and immersive solutions for the simulation and visualization industries. The company has its headquarters in Burgess Hill, West Sussex and has two further offices in Orlando and Longwood in the United States.

Requirement – Replace existing email system with a SEOS.com domain
Over time, company growth together with business acquisitions had led to SEOS having a disjointed e-mail system which had no clear infrastructure for connectivity. Plainly this was unsatisfactory, particularly for a company proud of its reputation for leading edge technology. Network administration was complex and expensive and the system was less resistant to failure than was desirable. In consequence, SEOS required a single domain, fault tolerant e-mail system which could be fully managed from the head office in the UK.

PAV Solution
After a rigorous vetting process, PAV i.t. services was selected to design and implement the SEOS.com domain and link the three offices by a Virtual Private Network (VPN). We accomplished this by providing the head office in Burgess Hill with Compaq servers with highly tolerant options. A dedicated kilostream pipe internet feed was established under the PAVnet service, and suitable business internet providers were identified at each location in the US. Connectivity via the VPN was delivered by CISCO software. SEOS also wanted to deploy specific applications to a remote office and remote users and we accomplished this using CITRIX Metaframe thin client software.

Before going ‘live’, the entire system and new configuration was fully tested over a period of two months at our headquarters in Sayers Common. The system is now fully maintained under a PAVmanage agreement.

Outcome
The new system has worked fluently since its inception and has provided SEOS with greatly improved manageability. Simple to administer, the new corporate email system is fault-tolerant and users can be added, removed and controlled directly from either the SEOS head office in Sussex, or the United States.
