12.06.07 CommVault

Leading business travel management company – Advanced Travel Partner International selected PAV i.t. services plc to deploy a CommVault Unified Data Management solution to secure 100+ servers in their London Head Office and at their new Data Centre in Lowestoft, Suffolk making ATPi one of PAV’s largest CommVault installations within the UK.

ATPi have now worked with PAV for several years, initially using PAV consultants to design the ATPi Active Directory environment and to subsequently project manage the AD migration. PAV consultants recommended the deployment of the Enterprise Data Management Solution from CommVault Systems to meet the stringent backup and recovery objectives of the organisation.

14.02.07 RSA Conference- San Francisco

Immediately on returning to the UK – Trevor had a meeting with longstanding PAV clients NAHT (National Association of Head Teachers) to brief them on the latest security threats highlighted at the RSA conference ; the exploits now being seen were significantly more complex and crafted with many targeting ‘identity theft’ – which resulted in NAHT confirming an order for a TippingPoint IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) independently recognised by many as #1 in this security area.

Archiving and email management were hot topics at the recent Axxia AGM, continuing the interest shown at earlier regional meetings. Indeed, the whole subject of ILM (Information LifeCycle Management) has become a subject of increasing importance for all professional services due to burgeoning information stores – primarily caused by the exponential growth of email together with the need for regulatory compliance, audited DR/BCP plans and the need for data migration & archiving.

08.08.05 Intrusion Prevention - For a long time, we have all been aware of devices and applications that detect intrusions onto the network – the problem has been that it’s all very well being alerted to it, but to remove the problem takes time and effort, and until now, there have been very few cost effective means to prevent intrusion in the first place.

Tipping Point, backed by a well-established and trusted name in 3Com, has just launched in the UK its IPS intrusion prevention device. One of the fastest selling IT appliances of all time in the USA, the product has received rave reviews from the IT press, including ‘Best Buy of 2004’ by SC Magazine for IT Security Professionals. …..

Although most people have firewalls in place and believe that they are secure, the reality is that many of the latest exploits are going straight through firewalls, as hackers are using ever-more sophisticated methods to embed malicious code in ‘permitted traffic’ to exploit vulnerabilities inside the network.

Unlike traditional intrusion detection devices that only log and react to intrusion or hack attempts, the Tipping Point IPS sits between your external router and the firewall, blocking any suspicious traffic in both directions.
